Full-time workers like pastors rely entirely on allowances provided by the churches they serve. If both the husband and wife are full-time workers, these allowances often fall short of meeting the needs of the pastor's entire family, especially if they have multiple dependents. This situation significantly affects children who aspire to pursue education at secondary schools, colleges, and universities.

The phrase "unable to continue education due to financial constraints" is commonly heard among the population of Sabah, but sadly, it is more prevalent among families of pastors. Financial limitations prevent deserving and talented children from pursuing education.

THE CHILDREN OF PASTORS EDUCATIONAL

The Children of Pastors Educational Assistance is MEF's first initiative to support the children of pastors, aiming to help pastor families ensure their children can continue their education. Educated children of pastors can become exemplary role models to the congregations they serve, emphasizing the importance of education for their own children as well.

MEF targets sponsoring 10 children of pastors per year. The sponsorship is aimed at children of pastors who wish to pursue education at secondary schools or higher education institutions, with a household income of less than RM3,000 or belonging to the B40 category (B1 and B2 groups).

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS

Applicants are required to fill out the educational assistance application form provided by MEF and submit supporting documents such as copies of the applicant's and parents' identification cards, copies of the applicant's most recent examination results, offer letter from the educational institution, and proof of parents' income. Completed application forms along with verified supporting documents should be submitted to the MEF office for processing by the management.

A fully completed form accompanied by verified supporting documents facilitates the processing of the application by the management. Successful applicants will be contacted by MEF for the subsequent process, which involves completing the necessary documentation for the distribution of assistance. The Children of Pastors Educational Assistance is provided as a one-time aid.

It is hoped that this educational assistance will alleviate the burdens faced by pastor families and help fulfill the dreams of the children of pastors to pursue education and bring pride to their parents.
